Also, nestled within the grounds of Soho Estate, is The Shearer's Quarters - a significant piece of Australian sheep farming history.
Built during the 1850's, The Shearers Quarters is the original accomodation for the shearers almost 180 years ago, when Soho was one of the biggest sheep stations in Victoria.
Pre-dating the main Soho homestead, this likely makes the Shearer's Quarters one of the the oldest existing buildings in Victoria.
While we have restored much of the cottage, you will notice the original tree trunk posts in the corners of each room, and the roughly hewn floorboards - all part of the original building.
The Shearer's Quarters, with 3 bedrooms and sleeping up to 10 people, has plenty of rustic and historic quirkiness, including fully equipped kitchen, comfortable and cosy lounge with woodheater, dining/meals area and outdoor table and seating.
With views across the grapevines - this is a unique opportunity for the groomsmen and his friends and family, to create their own history and memories.
While the bride and her friends relax and prepare in the comfortable elegance of "The Cottage at Soho" , we've heard that the ghosts of Soho's original shearers have been known to share a pre-wedding (or post-event) drink with you and your friends.
